Since Alta Ski Area’s 1938 opening, eighteen Alta ski pioneers and legends have been elected to the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard
Hall of Fame. This theme is the focus of a limited edition 70th anniversary poster commissioned by the Alta Historical Society (AHS)
and designed by Scott Engen. The poster features an action shot of the legendary skier, the late
Dick Durrance, skiing Alta in the early 1940s. Durrance was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1958. The poster also includes
photos of the 17 other Hall of Fame inductees who call Alta home. Among the 17 inductees are Alf, Sverre, Corey, and Alan Engen –
the only family with four members elected to this prestigious institution. The 70th anniversary poster is available through the AHS
web site, http://www.altahistory.org for a $40 donation to AHS. AHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
